Quickbooks Unrecoverable Error

Unrecoverable Error when performing a bank reconciliation or viewing previous reconciliation reports

 Reasons

  • Adobe Reader 10.0, 9.0, or 8.0 is installed and the preference for Display PDF in Browser is selected.
  • Adobe 11.0 (XI) and later versions do not have the option to display PDF in browser anymore and display PDFs outside of the browser by default, which will resolve this issue going forward.

Resolutions

Change the Display PDF in Browser preference (Adobe 10.0, 9.0, 8.0 only):

1.From the Windows Start menu, select Programs/All Programs to see a list of installed programs.

2.Choose Adobe Reader/Acrobat. Note: Adobe XI (11.0) and later no longer displays a PDF in the browser by default, so if you are on an older release, updating will resolve the issue.

3.Choose Edit > Preferences.

4.In the Preferences window, from the Categories list, select Internet.

5.Click to clear the Display PDF in Browser preference in the Web Browser Options section.

6.Select OK.

Identify how many users are affected by using a different log in credential to open the same company file. If the error only happens in one specific user, that user credential might be damaged. If so, recreate the damaged user.

Troubleshooting

1.From the Company menu, select Set Up Users and Passwords > Set Up Users. Enterprise users: Go to the Company menu, then select Users > Set Up Users and Roles.

2.Select Add User..., then type the user name and password. Select Next.

3.Customize the user as necessary, then select Finish.

4. Go to the File menu, then select Close Company/Logoff.

5.Log in to the company file using the new log in credential.

Suppress the Desktop while opening a Company File

1.Select the desired company file from the No Company Open window.

2 Press and hold the Alt key, then select

3.Open. If you are prompted for your log in information, release the Alt key, then enter your user name and password. Important:4 If you are not prompted for your user name and password, do not release the Alt key. Press and hold the Alt key, then select OK.

4. Do not release the Alt key until your file is completely open. Note: QuickBooks will display a blank screen. If you can highlight a QuickBooks menu by just hovering your pointer to it, your company file is completely open.
